kirky thea development

Preview of a design for my current project (Church restoration)

This features the master bedroom. Its also is an example of the development of learning kirky thea.Creating the correct lighting is the vital key.I have been able to pick up some great techniques whilst working on my placement.

Grand Designs 2011

recently I visited the 2011 Grand Design show.It was a fantastic day out and also to be amongst many design exhibitions. Whilst I was there I visited a seminar by Kevin McCloud, he was talking about his development company called Hab (Happy,Architecture,Beauty) and the direction they wanted to head being a sustainable housing area. following this was the design awards for the most innovative design. Flux, a contemporary chair that could be made within 5 seconds and folded back up. The light product can be placed in any environment and yet retain its stylish looks. The chairs themselves were very comfortable unexpected whilst looking at them in the image above.

My changing thoughts

while recently starting my placement with George Bond it has completely changed the way I view interior design now. A stereo typical design for me would have been the minimal look, but within two weeks I know think not only about what theme I want but also furnishing and textures to be used i.e wall paper, sofa fabrics. I have selected a few images that I will be incoporating in my current project. This is how I view and now perceive what interior design should be like and not a stark look.

church restoration

Our final project this year is a live project. The building is an old chapel and the client wants to convert it into a 4 bedroom house. as far as the interior deco goes the client isnt sure about the overall theme. I was inspired by the development of a small residential building by Baker Kavanagh. what caught my eye was the use of wood. I can imaging the interior of the chapel resembaling this and showing off the true beauty of the natural material to be considered for the interior.

paintings by marla (age 4)

(oceans)

I watched a documentary recently about a young girl that is a famous abstract artist called marla olmstead.by the age of 4 her work was being sold for thousands of dollars. abstract art is a personal favourite of mine. I was very impressed with the strong colour balance and the interesting shapes being created in her designs. her success be came controversial and many people thought it was her farther helping her.after months of criticism her parents video taped her painting for 60 minutes to show the dis-believers that she is the creator of her abstract paintings. this painting was called 'ocean' and became an icon painting for her. they have a sense of being free, fun and painting spontaneous
(the art of living the moment).

HE open day at Newcastle College 15th March

I was ask to present some of my work to future students on the college open day presentation. To me this was a great honour to represent the interior architecture course. Its also allowed me to talk to some of the other year representatives. We were given about 15 - 20 minutes to talk about some of the projects we had done and new skills that we had learnt.
